Helai Mohammad, Ph.D., joined Proteovant Therapeutics, now SK Life Science Labs, in May 2021 as Vice President, Head of Biology. Helai brings more than 20 years of experience in cancer research with 12+ years in the industry.

Before joining Proteovant, Helai was at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Oncology for ten years in roles with increasing responsibility. In her most recent position as Senior Scientific Director, Helai was part of the extended leadership team involved in establishing the scientific direction and strategy for the Cancer Epigenetics Unit, led projects into early clinical development, and was responsible for a team of scientists that supported drug discovery programs from target identification through phase II clinical investigation. Helai was a Senior Fellow within the GSK Society of Fellows, served as the US co-chair to the Fellows Council, and received numerous awards during her tenure at GSK.

Helai received her Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University, and Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. She returned to Johns Hopkins University to complete her post-doctoral fellowship during which her work was recognized through an American Cancer Society Fellowship award. Helai has published numerous peer-reviewed articles including several in top-level journals such as Nature Medicine, Cancer Cell, and Nature Immunology.
